Mahashivaratri, The Great Night of Shiva, is the most significant spiritual event in India’s calendar. Shiva is Ganesha’s father.

One of the stories I will tell is Ganesha’s Lesson, which is found in my book Storytime Yoga: Teaching Yoga to Children Through Story. Kids will hear the wisdom story first in its entirety, then help me retell the story with yoga poses.

Storytime Yoga is about hearing an oral story in its entirety without interruption is a form of yoga in itself. It’s not about reading a book, putting it down, doing. a yoga pose. Storytime Yoga is so much more. It’s a continual flow of attention and imagination.  A connection of body and word. Children experience the story, develop concentration, connect to the story and form original images within their own mind and body.  That’s where the yoga takes place.

Mythic Yoga

Hindu myths and symbols point us toward the eternal within.

I am grateful to Owner Effi Maria Matafia for inviting me, as I feel this connection and invitation is quite auspicious and timely. I have been traveling now on my personal Mythic Yoga Journey for nine months, putting on Storytime Yoga Kamishibai for Peace events and classes around the world. Here in Cyprus has been especially powerful. The fertile soils, shimmering Mediterranean Sea and the presence of Aphrodite and Mary have renewed my body and soul.

Storytime Yoga in the Library

Great stories for telling oral stories with yoga in the library with Storytime Yoga®!

Teaching children is crucial in this time, and oral storytelling and yoga are the best methods, in my humble opinion, to teach peace, health and literacy !

Time and time again, kids connect with the power of the image and the oral tradition. That combined with yoga helps discover the world within themselves and the source to overcome any challenge they can encounter in the outer world by growing in love and light— their true home.

Namaste and have a magical day!
