I started the first kids yoga online teacher training course in 2006 out of necessity. I didn't have the luxury of traveling to trainings or to put them on, as I was a widow with two young children. People constantly asked me about my local Colorado trainings and invited me to teach out of state.
So I started training online. I was amazed at how many people across the globe signed up to learn how to use the oral tradition with kids yoga. I was amazed that others weren't doing online trainings yet!
I was amazed that many were American, but more were from Canada, Egypt, Indonesia, India, Turkey and Mexico. The global community was available to connect on a scale never before, and kids yoga teachers could connect too to share information and stories across the internet and bring it back to their local communities.
A huge resource of kids yoga in the library, school and more is on the K-12 Yoga.org website. Storytime Yoga® is proud to be a founding sponsor for the organization’s website re-launch. Its tagline is Keeping the Body in Mind at School, and acts as a school yoga resource to find teachers, schools and yoga trainers in your local area as well as provide great information on how you can use yoga for children.
I will be writing a regular blog on the website with articles on storytelling to use with yoga in the library, yoga for schools and yoga for homeschool, something I did with my kids as we travelled the world together! A new blog on Myth and Yoga posted here!
I urge you to check out the K-12Yoga.org website to get inspired to teach yoga in the school, library, home and more with its wonderful resources. Consider becoming a member as well and join the global movement with grassroots at home as you connect and flourish with the power of yoga and community.
Namaste and have a global-connected day all the while staying home and going local! !
