On Saturday I had the wonderful invitation of attending the Wellness Initiative's tea for its teachers at the beautiful Dashanbe Tea House in Boulder. Debbie Huttner, dear friend, mother and founder of the Wellness Initiative, started the program to bring yoga and nutrition programs to children in schools. Her director, Mara Rose, is amazing, as is her dedicated staff of yoga teachers for children.
Children's yoga is booming, and it's wonderful to see so many dedicated people involved in assisting our most precious resource, children. Here at Storytime Yoga, we started a new round of E-courses, and again, I'm impressed with the caliber of talented men and women around the globe who see the value in our children and the need to teach them yoga for peace and health, as well as to tell stories to improve their literacy, imagination, and connection to themselves. We add two new countries to our list of Storytime Yoga participants, Colombia and the Philippines. We also have our first League of Yogic Storytellers member from Canada, Lisa Sharshin! It's exciting to see so many people connecting through the power of story and yoga and sharing it with children. I believe that with the Obama administration and the current world crises, we will return to community connection and things that matter - like our children's education, peace and health and that the whole world will be a better place as a result. Truly we find our unity in relationship with the other. Only avidya and asmita keeps us separate and in suffering.
