While at the tourist office in Larnaca, Cyprus the other day, I found an unexpected surprise. Cyprus offers some amazing tours and routes. I’ve been following in Aphrodite by following the Aphrodite Cultural Route. There is also an agricultural route, wine route and more. I found out there’s a storytelling route too!

Heartland of Legends is a route in Cyprus full of legends and stories. Beyond the Classics of Aphrodite’s Temple, Ariadne and Theseus that abound in Cyprus, there is a plethora of rich, local folklore. I tried to see The Fairytale Museum in Nicosia, which promotes, protects and preserves the literary and oral culture of this Mediterranean island I have come to adore. I will try again to visit it before I leave.

The fun thing about the route is that it’s promoted using some postcards of famous legends and stories of Cyprus. The cards are beautifully illustrated, and on the back is a story. They are like mini Kamishibai! I am posting three them and their stories here. Come and visit Cyprus!
